Lived Experience in Care Consulting

Hello and welcome! I’m Sorayah, founder, facilitator and proud advocate with lived experience in out of home care.

I combine my personal journey with university level education and sector experience to bring thoughtful, informed support to organisations working with children and young people. Bridging the gap between lived experience in out of home care and professional practice, I support services to become more connected and inclusive of young voices with lived experience, to create meaningful and lasting change.

About Me

My Story

I know what it’s like to grow up in a system that isn’t always built for you and I’ve spent my life working to change that. From having 10 years of care experience to becoming a peer role model helping others transition to independent living at 16, my journey has helped shaped who I am and how I lead.

My Mission

If I can help a young person see their potential and what they are capable of, no matter their background or current situation, I know I have achieved what I have set out to do.

My Services

Public Speaking

I offer public speaking services that draw from my personal journey through foster care and kinship care, alongside my experience within the youth sector.

My goal is to share my lived experience to build connection and inspire young people to see that their future doesn’t have to be defined by their past.

Youth Engagement & Facilitation

This service focuses on creating genuine opportunities for young people to be heard, involved and valued in decision making processes.

With lived experience at the centre, I provide facilitation that’s youth friendly, trauma informed and strengths based.

Services Coming Soon...

Im currently studying my Graduate Certificate in Leadership (in Health and Human Services) with the University of Tasmania.

After I graduate, I will be expanding my work by offering consulting services in policy and strategic planning. These services will support organisations, agencies and government in developing clear, purposeful and evidence based approaches to planning and decision making.

Before delivering these services, I am committed to ensuring I am fully qualified not only through formal education, but also through deep reflection, preparation and a strong ethical foundation.

I believe that lived experience is most impactful when paired with professional knowledge, credibility and care. My goal is to provide thoughtful, high-quality consulting that helps your organisation move forward with confidence, clarity and compassion.

Stay tuned for the future within this space!

My Qualifications

With a strong foundation in health, community and leadership, I bring both academic knowledge and practical insight to every aspect of my work.

My studies have deepened my understanding of systems, wellbeing and effective engagement supporting my ability to deliver informed and values based services.

I respectfully acknowledge the Palawa and Pakana people as the Traditional Owners of lutruwita. I honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and pay my respects to Elders past and present.

I recognise that the care experience intersects with ongoing impacts of colonisation, removal and systemic injustice, especially for Aboriginal children, families and communities. I am committed to cultural respect and accountability in my work and to listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations voices in everything I do.
